Water Service Disruption, Friday, July 23, 2021

AQUA PA has informed the Borough they have experienced an emergency while performing work today (Friday, July 23, 2021) and water service disruptions will occur in and around the Borough as a result. Currently, there is no timeline for restoration. Updates posted on the Borough’s website and/or Facebook & Twitter will come as soon as the Borough receives them.

Road Closure Alert For Section Of Bristol Road

Aqua Pennsylvania To Close Section Of Bristol Road On Weekdays For Water Main Improvement

PennDOT announced on July 21, 2021, that Aqua PA is planning to replace additional water main on Lilac Lane and portions of state-owned Bristol Road, which will result in weekday closures of both roads.  The water main replacement project will begin on Lilac Lane (from Bristol Rd to Hibiscus Dr) on July 26, 2021, with Lilac Lane closed Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  When the Lilac Lane section is completed, additional water main replacement will take place on Bristol Rd (from Butler Ave to Forrest Dr) which will result in that section of Bristol Road being closed Mondays through Fridays 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  For the duration of the project, some Saturday work may be required, there will be access provided for emergency, mail and trash service, and residents will have access to their properties.

Aqua PA has informed the Borough that the upcoming closure of Butler Avenue for its repaving (from Bristol Road to Rt. 152) will not overlap the closure of Bristol Road (from Butler Avenue to Forrest Drive) for its segment of this project.  Once the Bristol Road closure starts, it is expected to remain closed on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and possibly some Saturdays, until November 30, 2021.  During the weekday closure of Bristol Road, motorists will be directed to use Butler Avenue, Route 152 (Limekiln Pike), and U.S. 202 (Bypass).  Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.  Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.  All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Waste Management Information & Billing Issues

Regarding residential trash & recycling service in Chalfont Borough, Advanced Disposal is in the process of merging with Waste Management and going forward will be collectively known as, “Waste Management.”  Unfortunately, there have been a few hiccups with the merger.  Waste Management (WM) has informed the Borough that in accordance with the single-hauler contract, this quarter’s billing (June 2021) should have seen a small increase in price for the upcoming 12 months (6/1/21 to 5/31/22) of the contract, but that didn’t occur in WM’s software, so residents will see that increase (and the retro charge for the increase that was not included in this quarter’s invoice) on their next quarterly invoice.  The increase is approximately $1.50 (per quarter), so that amount would be doubled and explained on your next quarterly invoice.  After that, only the additional $1.50 increase (per quarter) through 5/31/22 would remain.

If you had autopay set up while the company still operated as “Advanced Disposal” and you recently received a paper copy of your invoice now showing “Waste Management,” this means you have now been transitioned over into Waste Management’s system.  This also means your autopay arrangement with Advanced Disposal has ended and that first WM invoice is not going to be paid automatically (verify this by checking your bank account), and you will need to “manually” (by mailing a check, calling in with your credit card, etc.) pay that new Waste Management invoice that was mailed to you.  If after “manually” paying that first invoice you would like to set up an autopay arrangement with WM for future invoices, you will need to activate your online “My WM Account,” which will enable you (now as a Waste Management customer) to set up autopay or paperless billing, pay your bills online, access pickup and holiday schedules, save a payment method, and set notification preferences in Waste Management’s online system.
