Message from PECO
PHILADELPHIA (January 22, 2026) — A significant winter storm is forecast to bring periods of heavy snow and possible freezing rain across the region this weekend. In advance, PECO is coordinating its storm preparation and response efforts to support customers and is sharing important tips with customers including how to report and track power outages, should they occur.
PECO has proactively increased staffing to ensure crews are available to respond to any power outages as quickly and safely as possible. The storm brings the potential for a significant accumulation of snow, along with sleet or freezing rain, which can have an impact on trees and power lines.
PECO’s storm preparation efforts:
- PECO is actively monitoring the weather and developing plans in advance for potential impacts on the company’s electric and natural gas systems.
- When extreme weather hits, PECO is prepared and dedicated to restoring service to customers as safely and quickly as possible. PECO is currently preparing crews and contractors to respond to potential outages. In the event of outages, crews will work around the clock until every last customer is restored.
Customers should also take steps to prepare for severe winter weather:
- Charge cell phones and mobile devices before storms hit.
- Keep a flashlight with fresh batteries on each floor of your home.
- Have a supply of bottled water and easy-to-prepare, non-perishable foods available.
- Regularly check weather information so you’re aware of conditions.
- Stay away from downed power lines and electric equipment – always assume it is energized.
During winter storms, customers also should remember to:
- Keep exhaust vents for natural gas appliances like water heaters, furnaces, and fireplaces clear of snow and ice to prevent buildup of carbon monoxide.
- Keep natural gas meters clear of snow and ice by using a broom or brush to gently clear the area around the meter.
- Find more safety tips at peco.com/Storm.
How to Report an Outage:
- Customers experiencing issues with their electric or natural gas services should contact PECO at 1-800-841-4141. Alternatively, customers can easily report issues at peco.com/Outages using their phone, tablet or computer or through PECO’s free mobile app.
- Customers can visit peco.com/Alerts to choose how to receive information – via text, email or phone – including when power is out in their area, when service is expected to be restored, or when power is restored.
- PECO has a two-way texting program for outages. By texting “ADDOUTAGE” to MYPECO (697326), customers can enroll in the program, report outages, and check the status of their outage through text messaging. To use this service, a customer’s mobile number must be registered with their account.
- Customers can find additional information at peco.com/Storm. Follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/pecoconnect and on Twitter at twitter.com/pecoconnect.
Restoration Priorities:
PECO’s restoration priorities are focused on public safety and other essential services such as 911 centers, hospitals, and pumping stations. Then restoration is generally scheduled so that the greatest number of customers can be restored as quickly and safely as possible.
After addressing downed live wires or potentially life-threatening issues, crews will focus on transmission lines that serve thousands of customers and substation equipment that can affect widespread areas. Crews will then address main distribution lines serving large numbers of customers and secondary lines serving neighborhoods. After major repairs are complete, crews will begin to work on service lines to individual homes and businesses.

PennDOT Announces They Will Host Virtual and In-Person Public Meetings for the Bristol Road Extension Project in Bucks County
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to attend a live virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 5, and an in-person open house meeting with project plans on display on Thursday, November 13, for the upcoming project to construct a new Bristol Road extension affecting New Britain Township, Chalfont Borough, and New Britain Borough.
To accommodate changes in traffic patterns from extending Bristol Road, additional improvements are proposed including minor widening for turn lanes at the Park Avenue and Main Street intersection in Chalfont, and a realignment of the Park Avenue, Ferry Road, and Callowhill Road intersection in New Britain Township. The Park-Ferry-Callowhill intersection will transition from a three-way stop sign-controlled intersection to a signalized intersection. Turn lanes are also proposed at this intersection for each approach.
The project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility for the traveling public and emergency services by addressing the existing roadway deficiencies and expanding the local roadway network.
As part of PennDOT’s project outreach, the department encourages the public to attend the live virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 5, beginning at 7:00 PM, by clicking on this Microsoft Live Teams meeting link prior to the presentation start time. PennDOT’s design team will deliver a project presentation before opening the meeting to questions using the platform’s Q&A feature.
Please note that internet access or a computer or mobile device are required to view the virtual meeting. Anyone with special needs or requiring special aid is requested to contact PennDOT Consultant Design Project Manager Nathan Parrish at 610-757-1881.
Members of the public who are unable to join the online meeting, can attend an in-person public meeting on Thursday, November 13, beginning at 6:30 PM at Unami Middle School located at 160 Moyer Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.
The meeting will be conducted as an open house where citizens will have the opportunity to circulate among the subject plan displays to gather information and discuss the different facets of the project with PennDOT’s design team.
PennDOT invites members of the public who are unable to attend the online or in-person meetings to view the virtual meeting recording and a copy of the materials on their project webpage. The public can also provide feedback using PennDOT’s online comment form.
